Children should engage in regular exercise, as it paves the way for lifelong healthy behaviors. Early muscle-targeting can help your child develop more advanced motor skills, such as dribbling a basketball or riding a bike. In this post, we are going to look at some of the Exercises that could end up becoming fun activities for your toddlers and also provide much-needed physical activities and other skills. Some of the exercises includes the following;

Running:

Running can enhance cognitive function, mental health, and academic performance in children, in addition to helping them develop healthy hearts, lungs, and coordination.
Steps to follow: Young kids typically enjoy games like tag and freeze that encourage running by chasing each other. Although the majority of this post’s attention is directed toward toddlers, older kids might prefer games that require more strategy, such as Capture the Flag, in which two opposing teams attempt to capture each other’s flag and return it to their respective home bases.
The cons of this exercise are that you need lots of space to engage in it, and you also need to be watchful of your toddlers to avoid boo-boos.

Jumping:

In addition to bouncing, which most kids can do by the time they are 18 months old, jumping is another fundamental skill. Jumping strengthens the leg and core muscles while also promoting balance and coordination, much like running does.
According to research that was carried out by an Athletic trainer with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine, jumping is crucial to kids’ development. The training comprised one group of boys aged 10 to 12 who participated in a jump rope training program three times per week, while the other participated in a regular physical education program without jumping rope. Over a 10-week period, the group that completed the jump rope program grew stronger and more resilient than the group that didn’t. This goes a long way toward showing that jumping helps kids grow stronger and more resilient. This makes the jumping exercise good for your toddlers.

Steps to follow: Here are some entertaining suggestions to encourage your kid to jump:
Engage in pretend activities at home or outside that involve jumping like a frog or kangaroo with your child.
Instead of freeze dance, try playing freeze jump. Turn on some music, jump when it’s on, and stop when it’s off.

Bear Crawls:

Full-body motions like bear crawls can help with coordination and strength development. These muscle groups are their primary focus:
Muscles of the upper body, such as the shoulders, chest, and arms.
Leg muscles in the lower body, such as the quadriceps and hamstrings.
Invoking their imaginations will help you convince young kids to perform bear crawls. Have your kids act out being bears, exploring a forest in search of food, or attempting to capture an animal. They should imagine that the house environment or wherever you choose to carry out this exercise is the forest, and they can even go in a pack with their siblings if they have them; the more the merrier, right? Your kids are going to have a great time engaging in this fun game, making them more physically fit.
Steps to follow:
Start by getting down on all fours, with your hands and feet together.
Hold your hips up in the air while keeping your arms shoulder-width apart.
Starting with your right hand and left foot, step forward, followed by your left hand and right foot. You will realize that the position makes you look like a bear walking on all fours. Occasionally, you can even get your kids to huff, chomp, and growl, depending on the mood of your little one in the game. If they are playing with their siblings, they can all learn the noises that bears make, thereby learning and having fun while doing an exercise. This proves that exercise can actually be fun when we make it so.

Crab Walks:

Crab walks are yet another muscle-strengthening exercise that can enhance coordination. Ever observed a crab walking? This will be a fun activity for you and your child, where the objective is to mimic the crab’s gait. Crab walks target a variety of muscle groups, similar to bear crawls. For instance, when you engage your toddler in a crab walk, the following muscles are bound to be improved and developed:

  • Triceps
  • Hamstrings
  • Shoulders
  • Glutes
  • Abdominals

This is more advantageous for children who spend the day sitting still and for developing upper body strength. Similar to bear crawls, these encourage active play that depends on a child’s imagination.
Younger children might like to play the role of crabs and stroll along the beach’s sand, while older children might like to race one another while playing the role of crabs.

Steps to Follow:
Start by sitting up with both your knees bent and pointing upward and both feet flat on the floor.
Place your hands flat on the floor and slightly behind your back.
Lift your hips off the floor and walk backward.

Superman Exercises:

I bet your kids love Superman, right? Who doesn’t? We all like to be heroes, and you can actually help your toddler develop their muscles and build up their physique by encouraging them to be one. Performing a Superman exercise is a muscle-strengthening activity that targets your back and abdominal muscles. By imagining yourself as a superhero flying through the air, you can inspire your kid to become Superman. They would all probably enjoy imitating superhero movements while doing so, which would help them build muscle. You will be happy you made the decision because it is a win-win situation.

Steps to Follow:
Legs should be flat on the ground, arms should be extended above the head, and you should be lying facedown.
By using your abdominal and back muscles, raise your arms and legs off the ground simultaneously.

Obstacle Courses: 

Kids love it when you set up an obstacle course for them. It can include anything, old boxes, ropes, brooms, etc. Anything to throw, crawl under or jump over will be perfect. 

Playing Soccer: 

Soccer is a great game for kids to exercise. It involves running, jumping, coordination and motor skills. Your toddler will love to try and kick the ball, or just make up new games with the ball that you can both play. 


The exercises mentioned above are excellent for kids, but rather than trying to create a specific exercise regimen, it is probably better to find out what they already enjoy and encourage them to explore their own interests. This will make them develop stronger muscles.
Just like every other sport and exercise activity, be sure to follow safety guidelines for each of the activities so that the dangers of participating in them will be reduced, if not eliminated.
